Alejandro Calcaño Bertorelli

Alejandro is a talented manager of complex and interlocking research, policy and creative projects that range from multi-year research grants, event production and facilitation, to large-scale festivals and art exhibitions.

Alejandro has been deeply involved in AI Now’s evolution and growth since the first AI Now Symposium in 2016, and leads AI Now’s operations, communications and special projects. Prior to joining the Institute he worked at Sunny Bates Associates, a consulting firm focused on mobilizing expert networks in search for new ideas in tech, civic life and science. From 2018 until its premiere in 2019, he was Project Manager for The School for Temporary Liveness, a week-long performance festival curated by Lauren Bakst and presented by the University of the Arts and the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage in Philadelphia. As Studio Manager for artists Gerard&Kelly, he led planning and production for their show and performances of CLOCKWORK at Pioneer Works in 2018.

Alejandro grew up in Caracas, Venezuela, and received his BA in Media Studies from Vassar College.
