Sumedha is a Researcher at the AI Now Institute, an Affiliate Fellow at the Ada Lovelace Institute, and a Researcher at the University of Cambridge. Her work examines the economics and political economy of public-sector technology investment, with a focus on digital payments, digital identity, and artificial intelligence. She regularly advises governments on their approaches to digital investment, and her academic and policy publications have informed the work of international organizations, policymakers, and regulators globally. Prior to her doctoral studies, Sumedha worked on technology policy initiatives at the World Economic Forum and in the newsroom at Devex. She holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, an MPP from the University of Virginia, and a BA in Economics from the University of Virginia.
