According to recent surveys, a majority of Americans are “more concerned than excited” about the rise of AI — a substantial increase in the last five years. A majority of adults, including young adults, believe AI will result in people losing their jobs.
“If we are in an AI bubble and it pops, what is clear to me is that the industry has rigged the game so it’s not popping on them. It’s popping on everyday people,” says Alli Finn, director of community partnerships at the AI Now Institute, a research and advocacy group that opposes the spread of data centers. “These are stranded assets that communities are going to be left footing the bill for.”
