Catherine Foley is the Communications Associate at AI Now. She supports the organization’s external presence across various channels and executes communications strategies that amplify AI Now’s work and shape public discourse around AI, accountability, and impact.
Before joining AI Now, Catherine was the Communications Manager at PowerSwitch Action, a national network of grassroots groups organizing in cities across the country. She managed the organization’s digital platforms, developed communications plans and narrative strategies, and created visual and written content that wove together stories and successes from across the network. She contributed to political education materials for organizers, supported the release of critical research and reports, and participated in powerful organizing campaigns on the ground, from Amazon warehouse workers fighting for better pay in the Inland Empire to Uber and Lyft drivers demanding safety and transparency in Chicago.
Prior to PowerSwitch Action, Catherine managed communications and operations at the Building Movement Project (BMP), a national nonprofit that develops research, trainings, and tools for social change organizations. She led their internal and external communications, provided programmatic support to projects across the organization, and managed the administrative and operations needs of staff. While at BMP, Catherine supported a multi-year research project on race and leadership in the nonprofit sector, conducted interviews for a mixed-methods study on the effects of COVID-19 on nonprofit leaders of color, and co-developed and facilitated modules in a training program focused on solidarity practices for emerging youth leaders.
Catherine holds a B.A. in English and American Literature from New York University.
