Kate Brennan

Associate Director

As AI Now’s Associate Director, Kate spearheads policy and research programs to shape the AI industry in the public interest. Kate brings a decade of experience in the tech industry to AI Now, working across roles in both product marketing and policy.

Prior to joining AI Now, Kate held multiple roles across the tech industry. As a product marketer at Google’s Jigsaw, Kate oversaw product launches and research initiatives confronting disinformation, censorship, and online harassment. Previously, Kate built and managed a national program to support women in the gaming industry, launching games by underrepresented gaming creators and commissioning cutting-edge research on gender dynamics in the gaming industry. She began her career running digital marketing for politically progressive nonprofits and unions.

At law school, Kate served as Editor in Chief of the Yale Journal of Law and Feminism and was a member of the Technology Accountability Clinic, a project of Yale Law School’s Media Freedom and Information Access Clinic confronting excessive power in the tech industry. As a clinic member, she worked on issues including biometric surveillance in prisons and access to abortion information online. As a legal intern with Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County, Kate represented low income workers across Los Angeles in administrative hearings to recover benefits and advised workers on wage theft, unemployment, and retaliation claims.

Kate holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and dual B.A. from Brown University in Modern Culture and Media and Gender and Sexuality Studies.
