Some of the most common questions we’ve received, we’ll continue to update this.
Is co-authorship allowed?
- Co-authorship is allowed. Feel free to submit essay ideas written with 2 or more people.
- For payment and taxation purposes we will require one person to be the lead contributor. Co-contributors may share the compensation at their own discretion. Please bear in mind that contributor fees/honoraria are taxable and the person receiving payment will be responsible for paying taxes on it.
When is the deadline for submission?
- We are accepting contributions on a rolling basis from January until March 31st, and aim to publish before June 2021. Once submitted, please allow us 2–3 weeks to respond with our decision and/or further questions.
Will this eventually be part of an edited volume/publication?
- We recognize that different fields value different types of artifacts (white papers, peer-reviewed journals, edited books). We will decide what format works best for the final cohort of contributors towards the end of the project.
- If you are a book press or publisher interested in collaborating with us, please email amba@stg-ainow-staging.kinsta.cloud.
Do I need to send multiple submissions or is it OK to submit just one?
- Our preference is for two submissions, but offering just one does not disqualify you in any way. Please state clearly in your proposal if you will be submitting one or two.
How about multimedia/non-textual contributions?
- We accept all types of submissions (photo essays, audio commentary, etc) but each contribution should be accompanied by a text component that clearly explains the motivation, goals and relevance of the contribution to our project call.
Will you provide multi-language support for non-western perspectives?
- To be accountable for what we publish, and to be able to provide full editing support, all our contributions will have to be in English. We do provide authors the opportunity to add translations as well as audio commentary in non-English languages. If English is not your primary language but you would still like to submit, we are happy to provide editorial support.
Will I hear back if my submission isn’t accepted?
- We aim to get back to everyone, either accepted or not, within 3 weeks after submission.
