AI Now applauds the new effort by NYC to address the impact of algorithms on real people

In a letter to Mayor DiBlasio, we join others in recommending a path forward.

New York City became the first city in the US to take up the issue of algorithmic accountability when it passed a law to set up a new “Automated Decision Making Task Force”. The Task Force has the opportunity to define how cities all over the world keep decision making systems that serve the public fair and just. AI Now applauds NYC’s leadership, and along with several partner organizations we have sent recommendations to NYC Mayor DeBlasio on who can best serve the task force.
